Coconuts have a long history of serving humanity. It goes back hundreds of years as a source of food and shelter. But along with the practical uses it also carries spiritual significance in many cultures.

In Indian culture it is a symbol of good luck and prosperity. Many religious functions and rituals start with the offering of coconuts.

People have coconuts at weddings and other festivals. When families buy a car or a home, they often include coconuts in their celebration. Even in public celebrations such as the opening of a bridge coconuts play a role in the ceremony..

Additionally, the coconut symbolizes self less service. Self less because every part of it can serve humanity and it is used in a multitude of ways. For example, coconuts provide oil, soap, mats and even thatch for roofs.
